What an enjoyable experience! I took two old chairs - written off several years ago by the company they'd belonged to, no less! - to have their spindles replaced, but not only did Nathan advise me that the bases would probably need replacement as well in due course, Alistair immediately saw that the one armrest was loose as a result of the one bolt being completely missing and several of the others being loose. He asked someone to bring him a bolt and washer to replace the missing one and retightened all the bolts on both chairs' armrests, and gave me the allen key with which to do it myself every month or two in future!
